Broadwater County judge rules against developers in ‘landmark’ water ruling

Feb 15, 2024

A recent landmark water ruling (see link to article below) in Broadwater County, Montana is a victory for rural landowners across the state confronted by rampant development proposals that exploit Montana’s water resources.

With this decision, Montanans have a clear roadmap for holding their local decision-makers and state agencies accountable by ensuring they consider public and community comments, proactively identify negative and cumulative impacts related to new sprawl development, and deny subdivisions that do not have adequate water supply.

The ruling should affect all future subdivision development across the state.
